Stacey Lee Webber Stampede Wall Art
Stampede is a wall piece within Webber's Imagine Series which is composed entirely out of hand sawn coins. Stampede features animals, trees, birds and hills sawn out with a basic jeweler's saw from American and foreign coins. This artwork spotlights bison from buffalo nickels which were struck by the United States Mint from 1913 to 1938. The coin was designed by sculptor James Earle Fraser as part of a drive to beautify the coinage with new coin designs between 1907 and 1909. This meticulous coin hand-work is Webber's signature technique within her found-object artworks. The stunning Imagine Series' circular metal frames are fabricated in Webber's studio with welded steel and measure 6.5" x 6.5" x 2". Each piece comes with a catalogue which describes all the coins used in the piece.
